Originally I was looking for steel enamelware. Not quite finding what I wanted I decided to look for splatterware in pottery. That's when Bennington Pottery came up and I had fun looking around the website. The deep mixing bowl caught my eye and I've used it to mix my flours for cooking. Since it's deeper and the walls are relatively high, I can toss and mix my flour mix without it leaving the bowl. And I love the splatter ware finish.

They don't make 'em like they use to, but Bennington Potters does. This bowl is a work horse. Solid, practical and beautiful, it represents the tradition of pottery. It's meant to be used rather than put up on a shelf for protection.

What a gorgeous mixing bowl, a unique shape and absolutely perfect for mixing. It is deep and nothing slops over the edge. I mix everything by hand, and love the sound and feel of my wooden spoons against the sides of the bowl. I love the feel of it in the crook of my arm. I love the color.

While searching for a deep mixing bowl; I thought of my old college town. Bennington. I had purchased a few items there way back in 1969 and my mom still had them. I thought I would take a look. The bowl is perfect. It is deep and the ingredients do NOT fly out of it. When whipping dry flour etc with that first egg NOTHING flies out of the bowl. And, the bowl isn't too deep to use your mixer in. Sturdy as the hell. buy it. keep it.
